Helena 15 month report (in progress)

Talking

Fifteen months - “Wow”. Literally, I can now say wow. Wow! I can also say Apple - I perfected this first. My first word is actually “FFF” which is the name of the dog that lives at the back of our house. He barks to call me. I have to see him. I say “FFF” and mum or dad pick me up and take me to the window so I can see him. He barks many times a day and mum/dad take me to the window. Sometimes I crawl to the back sliding doors and have a wave hello myself. The word mum is also popular when I want Mum (ofcourse!). Another favourite is Daggy. That one I reserve for Dad. Every now and again he yells out bubby, bubby, bubby. I respond with “Daggy, daggy, daggy”. We do this lots - it’s lots of fun in a fun way. Ofcourse, when he finally calls me Helena, I will call him Dad. But for now we stick with Daggy. It is actually sort of appropriate - he strikes me as a bit of a dag, but they think I don’t know what that word means. I am learning more words every week. These are very useful to let mummy and daddy know what I want, or just to make a noise. I always get a response from mum and dad. If I don’t I just yell louder. It fills the day and keeps mummy on her toes - it’s great to know that she is always there.

Walking

Walking. Hmmm! I can see the potential. I am really excited about it. I am not quite there just yet. I can stand. I can climb onto the counch. I can walk with my arms being held. I am very pleased by new opportunities. But I also like to be carried around. It’s a chance for a cuddle - I think I’ll ease into the walking thing very slowly. There are some videos and pictures of me walking below.

We went to Ronnerby in Sweden to visit Auntie Melissa. We stayed for three weeks. It was a little colder, but the sky was still blue. Uncle Uli and Auntie Melissa have a dog. I wanted to play with him. Unfortunately, he was really confused about my place in the house. The grown-ups thought it best if we were separated. When I was in the house, he was put behind a little fence. He was a great dog, but just a little confused about me. I think I was “in his space”. It was confusing for both of us.

We stopped in Ireland on the way to Sweden and the way back. Everything was green and we saw a horse. We saw the Pointless point. It was started as a monument to the millenium. Anyway, it was finished a few years late and was pointless. Thus, the local nick ireland_pointless_point_may07.jpg (3mb)

Music class

Every Monday and Saturday, I go to music class. It is lots of fun. We sing songs and play with toys for forty minutes. I also crawl around the class and say hello to all the other babies. Some share their toys with me, some don’t. But I always give the toys back. It’s great to give, receive and share. Although, recently I have been experimenting with what happens if you don’t give something back. It was only temporary.

Painting

I have started painting.

Being organised

I am really organised. My favourite game is to take stuff out, and then put stuff back. It is lots of fun. Everything must have its place. I don’t know why I am compelled to do this. Dad seems to think it is genetic - I won’t be saying that word for a long time.
