Marcus Cake’s map location
My location is displayed on the map below. A mobile phone version of this map is available here.
Why display my location? I thought it would be an interesting experiment in a Web 3.0 life using different technologies to interact with the world. The experiment may reveal a practical use. If I come up with a practical and productive use, I will update this page.
Unfortunately, Apple does not permit 3rd party applications to multi-task on the iPhone. Instamapper will only transmit data when it has been launched and is running in the foreground. The IPhone can not constantly upload GPS data to the Instamapper service in the background. I will turn it on regularly to provide some location data. My last 1,000 locations are stored on the service. To ensure you have the latest information, please refresh your web browser periodically.
If you want to do this, please get a free Instamapper account, load the Instamapper app on your Iphone (or other compatible mobile phone) and embed the code provided by the code generator on the Instamapper web site. For this to work, you will need to “share” your device location data with the public.
Social networking sites are incorporating the Instamapper feature as applications on their web sites.
