Could Skype application sharing accelerate changes in how we work?

The latest version of the Corporate edition of Skype provides easier access to Skype extras. The Skype extras include Unyte, a program that allows remote deskop or application sharing. What? In simple terms, it allows another Skype user to see what you are doing on your computer. For example, another Skype user could see a word document, excel spreadsheet or any other window on your computer. This is an essential part of people working together online. It may be the last missing part that allows rapid changes in how people work.

Application sharing or remote desktop technology has been available for more than a decade. I have been using RealVNC for many years. It is often difficult get working through a firewall. The Skype extras makes it easy to get working and everyone can use it.

Skype made internet telephony popular. It added video functionality last year. It has now added remote desktop or application sharing. As the world’s most popular internet telephone software, this will have a significant impact on the number of people that work together over the internet. Could Skype make application sharing popular just like it did for internet telephony?
The following screenshots may provide an insight into getting this technology working for you.
