Application to TED: A Twitter now and a speaking slot in 2012?

Dear Chris

TED is an inspiration. The journey of an entrepreneur is lonely and TED has provided inspiration, energy and a feeling that I was not alone. I have derived much from the TED community and I would like to share four ideas with the TED community – Equity Market 3.0, Economic Development 4.0, the Critical Path and UNITED (International Governance 4.0) (to deliver “Ideas worth creating”).

The purpose of this email is to ask you:

  • to consider broadcasting these ideas on your Twitter account (now) in 2011
  • to consider this application to speak at TED in 2012 to share the outcome of my efforts to crowdcreate Equity Market 3.0 in 20+ financial centres and inspire Economic Development 4.0 by June 2012

Crowdcreating Equity Market 3.0 in 20+ countries in 365 days

The world is now ready to apply the principles of social networking to revolutionise financial markets. The following slideshare presentation summarises the idea.

Economic Development 4.0

Over the last few years, I have also applied the simple principles of Web 3.0 networks to other fields of human endeavour. I have aggregated these into the following draft presentation.

www.MarcusCake.com provides detailed information on Equity Market 3.0, Economic Development 4.0 and Critical Path. The home page provides an Executive summary.

A Twitter broadcast to the TED community may be magic!

A combination of slideshare and Twiiter mean that my idea could be shared immediately. If you believe these ideas are worthy of the TED community, I am hoping you could share them with your 1.2m Twitter subscribers. My contact page provides some shortened URL’s if you need them. The broadcast of these ideas to the TED community by Twitter may deliver many of the benefits of speaking at TED, but without needing to take a valuable spot or waiting for the next TED conference.

TED could accelerate the adoption of Equity Market 3.0 and Economic Development 4.0

There are a number of challenges in endeavouring to fund and deploy Web 3.0 networks in this world. Firstly, some of the Web 3.0 network, like Linux, do not have a natural sponsor for essentially community endeavours. They don’t have an organisation that is interested or responsible for deploying them. If someone conceived Linux today, would it find a sponsor and who would believe that volunteers would build it? A global community patient record offered by Health Industry 3.0 plus patient health record managed directly by the consumer seems obvious but has similar trouble in finding a home (amongst others). Second, in some commercial endeavours Web 3.0 networks disrupt the status quo. Incumbents may choose to preserve the the status quo for just a few more years and delay innovation rather than implement a Web 3.0 network and its benefits. Third, the networks are easy and cheap to build, but driving consumer adoption e third is consumer adoption. Fourth, I waste time looking for people interested in a Web 3.0 network rather than contributing to an endeavour by building a network for a specific organisation or purpose. TED could solve all these problems.

Access to decisive social and commercial entrepreneurs

The TED network includes entrepreneurs that may have both a commercial and philanthropic interest in Web 3.0. Web 3.0 networks may provide a better way to achieve the objectives of some of these endeavours. My first Open Letters will approach entrepreneurs with a likely interest in a specific Equity Market 3.0 network and a specific Economic Development 4.0 network. These interests are often demonstrated by specific investments or foundations set up for specific purposes. I wonder how many people and organisations it would take to implement Equity Market 3.0 and Economic Development 4.0.

The following table is an extracted (speculative) summary of people and organisations on the Critical Path:

Motivation to incumbents

An idea shared introduces the prospect that it will, or is, being deployed by other or new competitors. It may encourage investment by the incumbents in the future. This may be specifically true of financial institutions and Equity Market 3.0.

The possibilities of Web 3.0 networks may influence others

An idea shared is powerful. It is transformative. The opportunity to speak at TED may result in many others considering the potential of Web 3.0 networks in their strategy.

As part of the process of preparing this application. I conceived another potential application of Web 3.0 network which may be of interest to TED. It is a Web 3.0 network closely modeled on Equity Market 3.0 to coordinate the execution of the Critical Path and the delivery of Economic Development 4.0. UNITED (International Governance 4.0) is a Universal community Network to implement the Innovation, Technology, Entertainment and Design networks underlying Economic Development 4.0. In essence, TED is focussed on “Ideas worth sharing”. UNITED (International Governance 4.0) creates an platform to implement “Ideas worth creating”. Additional information is available from the UNITED (International Governance 4.0) page and summarised in the Economic Development 4.0 presentation.

Speaking at TED

I am, ofcourse, available and keen to speak at a TED conference. I wanted to get my application for 2012 in early. I am a confident, passionate and structured speaker. I could deliver an 18 minute presentation on Equity Market 3.0, Economic Development 4.0 and who, what and where on the Critical Path effortlessly and concisely. I expect my enthusiasm may result in a “call to arms”. It may also be possible to time the auction of an EquityMarket domain name cluster for the 16th minute of the presentation. We could switch over to the see the result. Financial centres include the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

I hope this Open Letter finds you. If it doesn’t, I shall submit my application using the conventional Web 2.0 approach on your web site.
